MR F

This Boxing Day, my family and I are completely avoiding the malls. Instead, today has been a nice, relaxing day of Arrested Development (Mister F!), walking off the Christmas cookies, and sorting through the photos we took yesterday.

Tonight, my grandparents are hosting a Boxing Day dinner, but for now we're still hanging out at home. I'm very excited to wear a new cashmere sweater that I got for Christmas.

Only four days until Mexico!

Merry Christmas Eve!

I just realized I have made three posts about animals in a row. That's not good.

Merry Christmas Eve, everyone! All day, my mom and I have been saying how it doesn't really feel like Christmas here...it might be because we renovated our house and we've been spending Christmas Eve in a completely different setting than usual. It might be the overall lack of snow outside. Or it could be the fact that, when out driving tonight, I saw hardly any houses with Christmas lights on! Not quite sure what's up with that.

Hopefully tomorrow actually feels like Christmas. I'm very excited - for breakfast, I'm making a fruit salad for everyone. It'll be my first real(ish) culinary contribution to Christmas...ever!!!

So, to finish off my Christmas Eve post, I want to share the picture that's on my desktop right now. It's a beautiful winter scene and even though I don't think blue is a very Christmasy colour, I still love this picture. Merry Christmas!

Lou

My dog Lou is a super dog. He's a therapy dog for St John Ambulance, and he was chosen to be part of their Therapy Dog Calendar for 2011. I couldn't upload the photo of his calendar page (he's Mr September!) but this is the photo that was chosen for the calendar. This afternoon I was wrapping some calendars on his behalf to give to his friends and family. I hope they like their calendars!

I think I've decided that December 23rd is one of the best days of the year. We're all hanging around the house making food and finishing up our wrapping. We're having all our family at our house for Christmas, so there's lots to do here.

Lou's at the hairdresser this afternoon, so maybe I'll get a picture of him with his Christmas hairdo when he gets home. But for now, here's a picture of Jack the cat! Jack has started sleeping on my bed again now that I'm home which is nice. He's very warm and fluffy (and the house is very cold...and not very fluffy I suppose).

Home! And Four Days

I'm so glad to be home FINALLY! We had homemade soup for lunch today which was such a nice change from the Subway and pizza I'd been living off of for the last three days. Exams are tough.

It didn't take long for me to be put on present-wrapping duty, but my job is being made very difficult by this little guy:

He's attacked roles of wrapping paper, stolen bows off of presents, and even taken a nap on top of freshly wrapped presents. But it's so hard to stay mad at him.

Are We There Yet?

Hi! Sorry for not posting all weekend - I've been feeling a bit under the weather.

One exam left!! I'm so pumped for exam period to be over. We're going to be hosting Christmas at our house this year, and then for New Years, we're going to Puerta Vallarta! Hopefully I'll have some interesting things to blog about after. In the mean time, I'm trying to pack for both Canadian winter and Mexican climate. As if packing wasn't tricky enough already, right? And don't even get me started on toiletries!

I'm also trying to gather some new music to prepare for the plane ride to Mexico, as well as lazy days on the beach. Any suggestions?? I love soundtracks if anyone knows any good ones. I'd also love to check out any artists that have some interesting stuff.

Less than a week till Christmas!

Be Prepared!

Just wanted to share this picture that I made last year for Christmas. Scar is getting prepared for the holiday season...are you?

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is great - it's tasty, filling, and healthy. But you know what's not great about oatmeal? When you eat the flavoured kind, the smell of the oatmeal lingers all day in your kitchen, on your clothes, and just in general. This morning, Housemates had maple flavoured oatmeal and now the kitchen smells like maple. Not a bad smell, but not entirely welcome at 1 in the afternoon (Oatmeal, I love you and Imma let you finish, but...breakfast was over 4 hours ago).

In other news, two exams left! I've spent the last day studying marketing, and I must say, there are definitely worse things to study. Thankfully marketing is a pretty interesting course, and one of our books, Buyology by Martin Lindstrom, is really, really interesting. If you're looking to read a good book about why we buy stuff (I wouldn't be surprised if not many people are...) I would suggest taking a look at it.

So, in conclusion...

Ghost of Patrick Swayze

Housemates and I were taking a study break tonight to watch...Ghost! The classic love story between a young woman and her dead boyfriend. Crime, psychics and money laundering! The perfect Thursday night.

Anyway, Housemates and I were noticing that Patrick Swayze had many, many priceless facial expressions throughout the movie, so we decided to share some of our favourites:

Presenting...

Smug Swayze

Puppydog Swayze

Digital Swayze

Staring Contest with Cat Swayze

Astonished Swayze

Infuriated Swayze

And, we found the song that Swayze sings to annoy Whoopi. Enjoy!

Check out Housemates' Blogs! From Byron to Buffy and The Timey-Wimey Detector. Thanks, Housemates for all your help with this post!

So Many Chucks!

NBC posted a quiz to pick your favourite Chucks. I picked Boyfriend Chuck (pictured), but I also liked Nerd Herd Chuck, Handsome Chuck, and Prom Chuck. Pretty much I liked all the Chucks, but the point is there were a lot to choose from.

If you want to check it out and see all the gorgeousness of Zachary Levi, the whole quiz is posted here. But be warned, it goes on for a looooong time!

Should I Be Excited?

The trailer's been released for Pirates 4, On Stranger Tides...and I'm wondering if I should be excited about it. On one hand, it looks like it'll be kind of funny with some fresh humour (no signs of rum jokes yet), but on the other, they've made so many Pirates movies, what's left to do? And Penelope Cruz is involved. She seems spunky enough to balance Jack Sparrow well, but I'm not sure how I feel about her. Plus, mermaids and zombies and Blackbeard, oh my! Seems a wee bit far fetched.

Thoughts?

Harry Potter is Scary.

Just came from seeing Harry Potter 7, Part 1. It was surprisingly good, but really scary. Very, very dark. I'm super excited for Part 2 though.

Not much to say tonight, but I just thought I'd share this lovely photo (potential sarcasm...) of me and Housemates.

Only 9 more days till Christmas!

Chuck Hiatus

While perusing the internet today, I found this cute article on how to survive the complete through this complete lack of Chuck until January 17th. Here are some of my favourite tips:
  • Recruit More Chuck Viewers: watch Chuck!!! If you haven't seen a clip/episode/teaser on NBC then go find a clip/episode/teaser on NBC and check it out!
  • Rewatch the Clip of Volkov Playing Charades: so funny; a Russian master criminal who's in love with Chuck's mom tries to fit in with her family by playing charades, but he's awful at it (and yet takes it so seriously!)
  • Spend the Next Month and a Half Acting like Your Favourite Character: I would love to spend a month and a half impersonating Captain Awesome, but I think that a) it would be very difficult to maintain enthusiasm, and b) my friends would grow weary of this facade very quickly
In conclusion, I can't wait for January 17th!

What a Day...

Sorry nothing's been posted yet today! I wrote a super hard exam this morning then pretty much had a nice lie down for the afternoon, then baked some cookies when I felt more energetic. I should really do some tidying while the energetic feeling's still with me.

I can definitely tell that this winter in Kingston is going to be harsher than last winter. I was walking to my exam this morning and my face was really cold...and it's only December! Gotta toughen up.

I also spent a fair bit of time exploring the internet today, and I found these beautiful Dior heels that I'm putting on my list of things to buy when I'm an investment banker on Bay Street:

So pretty!!

Exactly one week till I'm home, and only 2 exams left! I can do this!!!

Feeling Stressed?

Whenever it's exam time, I find it's helpful to have something that never fails to give you a quick laugh. Right now, for me, it's this video from The Muppets of Beaker singing Ode to Joy.

Gets me every time!

Snowing Again!

I'm really happy that the weather in Kingston has gotten cold again. Yesterday it was not quite freezing so we got a whole bunch of rain. It was not fun. But today it's started snowing again, and while it's windy and cold, it's much prettier than the rain.

Today, I decided to post a picture of Lou, my standard poodle. Often, Jack the cat gets all the attention. But Lou's great and he deserves a bit of the spotlight too. We've had him for almost ten years and when you meet him it's impossible not to love him.

I'm halfway done with my finals now (!!) and I'll be home in 8 days. So exciting! I'm going downtown sometime this week to do a bit of Christmas shopping, and I have to bake some Christmas cookies tomorrow, so it'll really feel like the holiday season soon.

Chuck.

Today's been a bit of a slow day. It's really rainy in Kingston, and as my friend said, at the end of a finance exam tutorial this afternoon, "everyone in this room was now dumber."

Sooo might as well take this opportunity to talk about one of my favourite (or possibly my actual favourite) shows: Chuck.

I've been following Chuck since it first came out in about 2007. I'm not sure what it is about Chuck that's made me love it so much. It seems to combine loveable characters with hilarious situations and heartwarming life moments.

Unfortunately, Chuck has ended for the holiday season and will not be returning until January. Also unfortunately is that Chuck has all kinds of awesome sci-fi and action film guest stars but I never know who the heck they are. Every so often, my housemates watch an episode with me and go "omg that's the guy from [insert nerdy thing here]!" (no offence, housemates!)

And it is from watching Chuck that I have discovered Zachary Levi (pictured above), my main celebrity crush at the moment. He has been named one of People's Sexiest Men Alive of 2010. Congrats to him! And I can pretty much guarantee that I'll be blogging about him more in the future.

Deeeceeembeeer

Initially I was happy that my exams were spread out...because it meant that there was time to study. But really, Queen's? December is kind of starting to drag on. *Sigh*

Can't wait to get home to this little guy!

Look Book

I've always wanted to start my own look book, but I've never had the time and patience to document and catalogue my favourite outfits and good combos. Nina Garcia writes really good style books; I also have her Black Book of Style. And the pictures are really pretty too, done by Ruben Toledo. In this book, she really does tell you "What to Wear for Every Occasion" from Christmas to a job interview to a therapy session. Such a good book, and really fun!!!
This is one of my favourite looks from the book, apparently 'What to Wear When You Break Up with Your Boyfriend.'
Sooo...guess I have to start breaking up with boyfriends?

Gingerbread

One of the best things about the Christmas season? The holiday versions of regular products that come out. I'm talking about holiday flavoured Starbucks coffees (not to mention the holiday cups), festive smelling candles, and, my favourite right now, Philosophy's holiday scented products! I've started using their Gingerbread Man scrub, and it smells amazing (and it works really well too!). Other holiday scents that they have are Candy Cane, Peppermint Bark (yummm), and Melting Marshmallow. And the packaging is adorable!
(Philosophy: a good man nourishes your body and soul)

2 Done, 4 to Go!

Hi! I'm in a pretty good mood today since last night I wrote the final exam for this course that pretty much everyone dislikes but is mandatory for our program. That means that I've now completed two exams, and only have four more left. Woohoo! To celebrate, my housemate and I watched 10 Things I Hate About You, and then I googled photos of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is super cute. I haven't seen Inception yet, but I hear he's in it. So I suppose I should make an effort to see it just to support him.

Anyway, Kingston has been very cold lately; apparently there's a big snow storm coming on Monday...I hope none of the exams get cancelled! Darn Canada weather. I'm trying to force myself to go outside and get groceries because I think some San Pellegrino would be an excellent study companion. Only 11 days till I'm home!

Why I Love Boy Meets World

This is a really cute interview with Danielle Fisher, aka Topanga

Butter

Last time I was in Toronto, I went to Sherway (as usual!). I was in Holt's and I stumbled upon an amazing line of nail polish. It's called Butter. What really stood out to me were the super sparkly polishes they had, and the sleek bottle shapes. I admit, I'm an OPI girl, but Butter has such a cool vibe to it, I think I'll need to pick up a bottle next time I'm home.
The colour I posted is called 'Marrow,' which is "named after the dark purple, rusty centre of a bone." Well...hey, it looks good, right?

Need This...ASAP!!

Lionsgate has decided to release a Limited Keepsake Edition of Dirty Dancing! It has 9 hours of special features, including a tribute to the late Patrick Swayze. I saw a clip of the bloopers which were adorable, and so I've decided that I need to obtain a copy of this as soon as possible!!

That is all.

Beautiful

I love small, dainty jewelry. I've never been one to wear chunky rings or necklaces. Which is why I love Dogeared's jewelry. They specialize in beautiful necklaces with little charms and mantras to go along with each one.
For Christmas two years ago, I was given the gold Fearless necklace with a dragon on it which I love sooo much. Whenever I'm about to try something new, I think about this necklace and try to be fearless.
Another one that I really like is this beautiful hummingbird necklace. Beautiful, right?

Oops! Hiatus!

Hello! To all the people reading this, sorry I was gone so long! Basically, I don't expect anyone to read this. So no pressure! Here's a picture of my cat.

So, I think I should describe myself a little bit since my first post was such a fail.

I am Te!
My cat's name is Jack. I like him a lot.
I like food. I also like baking cakes (and eating them).
I like '90s things. Particularly music. My latest discovery is Third Eye Blind; quite good if you want to check them out.
I am currently in my second year at Queen's University studying Commerce. Don't you love how professional I sounded as soon as I started talking about Queen's? Haha. There's behavioural conditioning for you.

Anyway, since it's exam time I think there's no better time to try and start this up again.

Talk to you later!

Tims, why?

So I went to Tim Hortons the other day when it was raining out and I wanted a sandwich. I went in and stood in line to get my sandwich. When it was my turn to order, I asked for my sandwich. But they didn't get their bread delivery that day or something, so they had no buns.

It was sad.

Alex Squared Petsitting

Hey! So. Alex (not myself) and Alex (myself) are looking after a small dog this evening. We took a lovely trip to Metro this evening to get cheesecake, but then we decided that cheesecake is simply too heavy. So we ended up getting fruit popsicles instead! Such a great choice.

We (I) decided that Alex needs an English Sheepdog. And she should name it Max. Just like the dog in The Little Mermaid. It will herd her as if she is a sheep. Thoughts?
